Open House at Backyahd

On Saturday, June 5th, you’re invited to check out the new fitness studio at Black Falcon Cruise Terminal – Backyahd. There are two classes to take – 8:30 and 10am, but then all are welcome for a live DJ, food from Fat Baby and Loco, and an opportunity to check things out.

Go Fly a Kite

Visit Spectacle Island on Fridays and receive a free kit as you board the ferry.  Kites are limited to one per group or family and takes place each Friday through September 3rd while supplies last.  Tickets for Friday service to the Islands will be 50 percent off through June 25. Boston Harbor City Cruises will offer discounted ferry tickets for $4 for a family of up to four people for families participating in EBT or SNAP programs. Enjoy a Pride Swizzle at Woods Hill Pier 4

Woods Hill Pier 4 is kicking off Pride Month with The Rainbow Swizzle ? $1 from each cocktail sold will be donated to @bagly_inc, a youth-led, adult-supported organization committed to social justice, and creating, sustaining and advocating for programs, policies and services for the LGBTQ+ youth community. Candle Making Workshop at Noted Candles

Everyone agrees, Noted Candles Candle Making Workshops are SO FUN. Round up the crew for a private candle making class. Each person will choose the style and fragrance of their candle that you will make from scratch, you will also each customize a Match Bottle to round out your set. The sessions are tailored to your group so everyone gets the level of detail and instruction that is right for the occasion. Maybe you want to learn the nitty gritty of candle making so that you can make candles at home, or maybe you just want to have a fun girls night out. A Shot for Life Basketball Game between BFD and BPD

On Saturday, June 5th at 2:30pm, head to Garvey Park in Dorchester (34 Neponset Ave) for a fun game of basketball between BFD and BPD. A Shot for Life is non-profit foundation and this year’s beneficiary will be Grant Medeiros, a 6 year old boy from Dighton, MA. Grant has battled Leukemia twice and because of his immune system needed to be in isolation for over a year back in 2018 and 2019. He has had multiple surgeries as well as a bone marrow transplant. His health is headed in a positive direction and will continue to be monitored in the near future as he keeps fighting against this horrible disease. He is an honorary firefighter with the Dighton Fire Dept. Stop by and show your support!

Get Vaccinated

South Boston Health Center will be popping up for a vaccination clinic at South Boston Neighborhood House – 136 H Street from 9:30am-12:30pm on Saturday.  Open to all 12+ (under 18 need parental consent) Vaccinations are free! Insurance card encouraged but not required. Second dose provided in the same location on June 26th.

Local 149 – New Summer Hours

Local 149 announced their new summer hours – featuring late hours on Thursday and Friday- 4pm-1am and Saturday 11am – 1am! You can see the new hours via their Instagram here! 

Rainbow Pride-Themed Bluebikes

To mark the start of Pride Month, Blue Cross Blue Shield of Massachusetts has unveiled 100 rainbow pride-themed Bluebikes, which are now integrated throughout the Bluebikes system. As part of the month-long roll out of the “Blue Cross Proud bikes” and to demonstrate its continued support of LGBTQ+ pride, Blue Cross will donate $1 for every ride taken on pride-themed Bluebikes through the month of June to Fenway Health in Boston.
