We are still in the thick of the pandemic and this holiday season will look very different this year.  But you can still celebrate! Here are some “Stay at Home” holiday celebration ideas.  You should be adhering to the state’s guidelines and only “celebrating” with members of your own household.  All celebration ideas below can be replicated virtually with the exception of game night! Enjoy and be safe!

Holiday Movie and Pajama Party

Put on your favorite Christmas PJ’s and watch your favorite holiday movie!  Prepare snacks and cocktails (or mocktails) that go along with the movie!  Our own Heather Foley has come up some creative ideas in the past including the movies Home Alone and Elf!

Feliz Navidad

Inspired by the classic Jose Feliciano song, hang up some colorful lights, order up some chips + guac from your favorite Mexican restaurant and don’t forget the margaritas to go!

Retro Holiday Mixer

Binge watch Mad Men, make some deviled eggs, fondue and chips and homemade onion dip! Mix up a martini or an Old fashioned. Feel free to dance with the lampshade on your head and start a conga line with you family or roommates.

Hallmark Christmas Movie Marathon

This requires sweats, a cozy blanket – preferably white to look like the freshly fallen snow in the backdrop of all the movies, an adult hot chocolate and Christmas cookies.  Read Heather’s Guide to Hallmark Christmas Movies here!

Family Game Night

Play an old school board game like Monopoly, Candy Land, Clue or Yatzee. Maybe Uno or Jenga is more your speed?  Make some classic holiday Chex mix and play some holiday music in the background. Festive holiday hat wearing encouraged.
