Do you know what I love?  Christmas movies!  Other acceptable answers include but are not limited Golden Girls, drag queens, almost anything on Bravo (you can take a hike, Girlfriends Guide To Divorce), and my bathrobe, but let’s stick with Christmas movies for now.  So yeah, you’d be hard pressed to find a bigger fan of holiday movies than yours truly.  They warm the void where my cold black heart used to be and make my eyes leak a strange clear liquid, I guess I’m just a big ol’ softy!

If there’s anything a good Christmas movie teaches us, it’s that love that makes the world go round, so why not invite your loved ones over for a little holiday cheer?  Throughout December we’re going to give you some ideas for throwing a movie night based on our favorite holiday movies.  No one here at Caught In Southie is Martha Stewart, hell I’m not even Sandra Lee, so you know our ideas will be easy, fun, and a little bit quirky, just like us!  First up, Elf!

You’re probably thinking, “I know what you’ll do for Elf, candy, candy canes, candy corn, and maple syrup” and to that I say “no, that’s a terrible idea.”  Candy canes are weak and candy corn is an abomination, so pay attention.

Who to invite:
Make it a family friendly night for all ages…unless you hate your friends’ kids and/or the kids in your own family.  Don’t let any brats ruin the movie for you.

What to wear:
Your purple dress, it’s very purpley and you look pretty enough to be on a Christmas card when you wear it.

How to decorate:
Cut out a bunch of snowflakes out of plain white paper.

What to eat:

  • You smell like beef and cheese-wiches, aka cheeseburger sliders
  • A tray (or trays, you do you) of Hostess Sno Balls
  • Santa’s chocolate chip cookies

What to drink:

  • World’s best coffee (Bailey’s optional)
  • Hot coco
  • Candy Cane cocktail by our girl Sandra Lee
