There have been many ups and downs with news about Amrheins the past few years. First, it was news the property was on the market. Then sold. Then Mul’s – sister restaurant of Amrheins – was closing. Mul’s moving to Amrheins. Then news of a a new Amrheins in the new development coming to that corner.
Now, Boston Restaurant Talk is reporting that Amrheins will suspend operations for now. Evidently there is sign posted on the restaurant which reads, “After much consideration we have decided to suspend business until further notice. Please continue to support the small businesses of your community buy gift cards, order take out, tip your delivery drivers. We look forward to serving you in the future.”
No word yet if the famous South Boston landmark restaurant which opened back in 1890 will reopen in the spring. Our guess is most likely not.
