Here are our picks for St. Patrick’s Day Fun in South Boston!

Corned beef and cabbage just like Nana used to make. 

The Seapoint is celebrating St. Patrick’s Day on the 16th serving the traditional meal of Irish immigrants – corned beef and cabbage.  The nearly 40-year-old family run South Boston business will also be featuring live Irish music all day. The fun begins at 11 am!  They will be closed parade day!  

Full Day of Drinking Beer

Dorchester Brewing Company is celebrating St. Patrick’s Day as the Irish intended – with a full day of drinking great beer on Saturday, March 16th from 11:30 am-11:00 pm! With an expanded capacity to fit everyone IN who wants IN, there will be plenty of room for all! With fresh beer, live music, traditional food and more!  Events include a Beer Release from 2:00 pm – 5:00 pm and live music from Blue Light Bandits, an independent groove rock band from Worcester.  Brato Brewhouse + Kitchen will be serving up their version of Irish food from 2:00 pm – 8:00 pm. The menu includes Beer Brined Corned Beef with Stout Mustard, Fingerling Potatoes, Carrots, Braised Cabbage, Irish Pork Sausage with Garlic Mustard, Crispy Leeks, Irish Cheddar Grilled Cheese with Whiskey Glazed Onions on Rosemary Sourdough.  You can learn more here! For other St. Patrick’s Day events, visit here!

Coppersmith is feeling Irish! Enjoy their last and biggest St. Patricks Day Bash on Friday March 15th starting at 2pm! Complimentary appetizers, live entertainment, free swag & more!

Capo is going full St. Patrick’s Day celebration!  Tickets are NOW ON SALE for St. Patrick’s Day in The Supper Club at Capo on Sunday, March 17th from 12pm – 6pm. Enjoy live music by Joshua Tree: a Premier U2 Cover Band. These tickets will sell out quickly, so act fast! Tickets are $40 and can be purchase here!   Must be 21+ with valid ID. No exceptions!

Wearing’ O’ the Green!

Colin’s Joy Project is hosting some special pop-ups this week featuring Colin’s Joy Project t-shirts with a St. Patrick’s Day twist! They’ll be at Deirfiúr Home on Friday 4-6 pm and Saturday from 12-3 pm. Whether you are cheering on “Team Colin” at the Boston Marathon or supporting from a distance, wearing the Colin’s Joy Project gear helps spread the word on how we can build Colin’s legacy. This sale is a fundraiser for Colin’s Joy Project, the fund created by Colin McGrath’s family after his recent death. This fund will make grants to rebuild local play spaces and fund family-focused programming in their community, particularly for families in need.

Boston Fire Clothing will be popping up at the K Street Firehouse on Friday from 8-8, Saturday 9-6 and Sunday 8-6. They will be stocked with your St. Patrick’s Day T-Shirts, Hooded Tees and Long Sleeve Tees.

Grab a shovel and pitch in

With warmer temps this weekend, why not help out and get rid of the snow mounds on your street – especially if you’re on the parade route!  Grab a shovel and push out that snow onto the street – it will be gone by sunset on Saturday!  Let’s go!

Tour the USS Jason Dunham

Ship ahoy! USS Jason Dunham will be docking at the Flynn Cruiseport on the afternoon of Thursday, March 14th and public tours will be available on Friday from 9:00 am to 5:00 pm and Saturday from 9:00 am to 3:00 pm. There will be a mass at Our Lady of Good Voyage on Saturday at 3 pm. The USS Jason Dunham sailors will be participating in the parade and will be included as part of the Evacuation Day Banquet on Friday, March 15th at the Boston Convention & Exhibition Center.

Run Southie run!

St. Patrick’s Day Rad Road Race!  Established in 1940.    Festive and healthy and spirited 5K Road Race starts and ends at Edgerley Family South Boston Boys & Girls Club, corner of F and West Sixth Street.  All proceeds benefit South Boston Boys & Girls Club.  First 650 to register to receive Official Race Shirt, designed by Dropkick Murphys! A limited number of limited editions shirts will be on sale race weekend for wicked cheap ($10!) March 17th – 11 AM Start.  Rad Youth Rock-Pop Band the Harmaniacs to perform before the start at 10:20. Register here!

Irish Heritage and Culture at the library

On March 16th, an Ireland Gaeltacht Experience event will be held at the South Boston Public Library at 12pm. You can learn the Gaelic language, listen to live celtic singing, learn about Galway’s Hooker sailing boats, and boxer Sean Mannion and his biographer Rónán Mac Con Iomaire will be there to chat about Sean’s life captured in the book The Man Who Was Never Knocked Down.

Tune in for the Breakfast!

Senator Nick Collins will host the Annual St. Patrick’s Day Breakfast.  This holiday tradition will take place at the Raymond Flynn Cruise Terminal and feature a who’s who of elected officials and politicians.  The event starts at 10 am and will air on NECN.  Learn the history of the breakfast here! 

Know the parade route

If you’re wondering the best place to watch the parade, we’ve got some suggestions here!  The parade begins at 1 pm at Broadway Station. The route will take marchers from West Broadway to East Broadway and then back through Southie from East Fourth to East Fifth up around Thomas Park and end at Andrew Square.
