Vote!  If you didn’t vote early, your last chance is Tuesday, November 8th.  You’ll be voting for president, along with 5 questions, and register of deeds.  If you’re like us, you’ll be happy this election season is over.  No more political ads – thank God!  (Just go away Kelly Ayotte and Maggie Hassan! Gheesh!)

Support!  It’s the South Boston Community Health Center’s Harvest of Hope! As auctions go, you would be hard pressed to find one as exciting as this event!  The annual fundraiser to benefit the programs and services of the Health Center will be taking place on Thursday, November 10th at 6:30 PM at the Seaport Hotel in the Plaza Ballroom. WCVB’s Mike Wankum will serve as MC and Auctioneer.  Tickets are $100 and can be purchased here!

DIY!  Do you have some home projects you’d like to get done?  Stop by Backstage Hardware on Dry Dock Avenue!  It’s a good old-fashioned neighborhood hardware store – one of the largest in Boston – that has everything from hammers to picture hangers to extension cords, lightbulbs and beyond!  While you’re there, makes sure you stop by the repurposed shipping containers and grab yourself some lunch!   This new hot real estate market is where the new America’s Test Kitchen will be moving too!

Deck the halls! We don’t want to freak you out – normally we don’t even like to think about Christmas until after Thanksgiving –  but Christmas is six weeks away.  Fear not!  The Laboure is hosting a special Christmas Shoppe this weekend!  This boutique will feature amazing holiday decorating ideas as well as holiday gift items and it’s guilt-free shopping.  Not only will you be getting yourself ready for the holidays, you’ll also be supporting an important South Boston organization!  So it’s good karma!  Stop by November 11th, November 12th, November 13th from 10am-5pm.

Celebrate with Sydni!  This is one of the reasons we love living in Southie!  After hearing about Sydni’s need for for a new van, a group of Southie residents have organized a special birthday celebration and fundraiser in honor of her birthday!  This family friendly event will feature skating, music, food, raffles and lots of fun!  It will take place on Friday, November 11th at 6pm at the Murphy Rink in Southie.

Honor! On Friday, Nov. 11th, the Fitzgerald Post will hold its 65th annual Veterans’ Day Memorial Service. At 9:40 AM, there will be a parade march from the the post on East Fourth Street to St. Brigid’s Chapel, with a Memorial Mass to follow at 10:00 AM. Please join us! There will also a flag retirement ceremony at 10am at Fort Independence at Castle Island.  If you have a worn or damaged flag, you are encouraged to bring it.
