Come celebrate!

This is one of the reasons we love living in Southie!  After hearing about Sydni’s need for for a new van, a group of Southie residents have organized a special birthday celebration and fundraiser in honor of her birthday!  This family friendly event will feature skating, music, food, raffles and lots of fun!  It will take place on Friday, November 11th at 6pm at the Murphy Rink in Southie.

Back in 2012, Southie resident Sydni Pecevich and her family received an early Christmas gift – much needed renovations to their South Boston home to accommodate her new wheelchair.   Diagnosed with a rare malignant brain tumor at two months old, Sydni has since defied all doctor speculations and is a miracle survivor who is now living happily cancer free. Soon to be 12 years old, Sydni is growing by leaps and bounds and needs our help again!

Sydni needs a larger wheelchair van to fit her supportive equipment, accommodate her caregivers (to safely monitor her seizures) and allow her mom Cathy to safely transport her to all of her countless doctors’ appointments, therapies, and family activities.

“Cathy is an amazing mom who is always so positive juggling the everyday tasks of being a mom along with extra care needed for Sydni. When Cathy mentioned her urgent need for a new wheelchair van friends were eager to help.  We thought a family skate night at the rink was a fun way to celebrate Sydni’s upcoming birthday along with raising funds for her new van,”  says Patty Cloherty, one of the event organizers.

Modified vans are not cheap but the family hope that it will support Sydni for the next 10-12 years. So let’s help out this great Southie family!    You can purchase your tickets here!

In addition to the Birthday Bash, organizers are looking for “Champions” who are willing to participate in our 20 for $20K challenge — become one of 20 individuals donating $1,000 to get Sydni in her new van!  To become a Champion for Sydni please contact Bobby Ferrara at [email protected] or Dan Manning at [email protected]
