5 Things You Should Know This Week – March 3rd

Be informed. Get involved.
Find out if you’re eligible for tax exemptions, tax deferrals, and other potential savings like Senior Circuit Breaker Tax Credit, SNAP, Fuel Assistance, and more. This information meeting will take place on Monday, March 3rd from 11am-3:30pm at the BPL South Boston. Presented by Age Strong Boston. Get all the details including what to bring here.
Ash Wednesday
Wednesday is Ash Wednesday – marking the beginning of the 40 days of Lent before Easter Sunday. Many Catholics will signify Ash Wednesday by getting ashes placed in the shape of a cross on their foreheads. It’s technically not a Holy Day of Obligation but if you’re into this ritual, here’s where to get your ashes in the neighborhood.
MBTA Service Changes on Red Line
The MBTA is making signal upgrades to the Red Line, which will temporarily affect service on the Red Line. On the weekends of March 8 – 9, March 22 – 23, and March 29 – 30, trains will not run between JFK/UMass and Braintree. Shuttle buses will replace trains. Get the details here.
St. Patrick’s Day Route + Time Change
Let the countdown begin! We are weeks away from the 2025 St. Patrick’s Day Parade, and organizers have announced this year’s route. No big changes except for the start time – which this year will begin at 11:30am. The earlier start is to accommodate parade volunteers so they are not still out on the route until 6pm like last year. You can get more details here.
Register for an Intuition Workshop at Summer Street Wellness
Feeling a little out of sync? Need a reset? Summer Street Wellness is hosting a Half-Day Retreat for Deepening Your Inner Wisdom on Saturday, March 15th from 1:30 PM – 5:30 PM, and it’s the perfect excuse to hit pause and tune in. You can get all the details here.
