Sail Boston 2026: Know Before You Go

The Tall Ships are coming to Boston Harbor July 11th through July 16th, and if you’re planning to check out Sail Boston, a little preparation will go a long way.
Take Public Transportation
With hundreds of thousands of visitors expected, parking will be limited, and traffic will likely be heavy. Consider taking the MBTA, walking, biking, or using water transportation if possible. Visit here to plan your trip.
Wear Comfortable Shoes
You’ll be doing plenty of walking between ship tours, waterfront events, and viewing areas.
Dress for the Weather
July in Boston can be hot. Bring sunscreen, sunglasses, a hat, and a reusable water bottle.
Arrive Early for Ship Tours
Public boarding is free, but lines may be long for some of the most popular vessels.
Pick Your Viewing Spot Ahead of Time
Popular locations like Castle Island, Pleasure Bay, Fan Pier, and the Harborwalk are expected to draw large crowds, especially for the Parade of Sail and fireworks. Make sure to give yourself plenty of time to get a spot.
Stay for the Fireworks
Two fireworks displays are planned during the event, making for a spectacular end to a day on the waterfront.
Most importantly, bring your sense of adventure. The Tall Ships only visit Boston every few years, and Sail Boston 2026 promises to be one of the biggest events of the summer.
