The Boston Licensing Board hosting an emergency hearing this week.

Oh boy, this is the second emergency hearing.

Over the summer Boston.com reported that complaints were pouring in via 311 and reported to the licensing board re: lack of social distancing at neighborhood restaurants.  The offending neighborhoods? Allston/Brighton, Southie and Seaport.  Well, looks like another hearing will take place for all South Boston and Seaport restaurants this week. 

Any licensee that fails to attend could have their temporary extension of an outdoor space revoked, along with potential additional disciplinary action.  The second meeting for South Boston/Seaport will take place on Wednesday, October 21st – public testimony begins at 4:30pm. 

The meeting will address the complaints filed with the board and the Inspectional Services Department and include three main themes:

• Failure to adhere to the guidance issued by the state regarding social distancing and mandatory operational requirements and the board’s various advisories regarding the same;
• Failure to properly monitor patrons waiting in line for admission to the premise;
• Failure to adhere to city, state, and federal laws, codes, and ordinances regarding tobacco use and the presence of animals in food service establishments, including outdoor patios.
