Stop & Shop Celebrates Grand Reopening of Newly Remodeled South Boston Store this Weekend

Southie location delivers improved shopping experience plus a weekend of giveaways, food sampling, and family-friendly events to celebrate its reopening

Quincy, MA – August 28, 2026 – Stop & Shop today announced the grand reopening of its newly remodeled South Boston store at 713 E. Broadway with a fresh new look and feel for local shoppers. The community is invited to celebrate the store’s grand reopening with a weekend of giveaways, sampling and festivities beginning on Friday, August 28, including free mini tote bags customized with Boston and Southie-themed patches.

The renovated South Boston store features more fresh produce offerings, upgraded refrigerated display cases to keep foods fresher for longer, plus bright new lighting throughout. New Plant-based and Gluten free sections make it easier for shoppers to find those specialty items.

Other new additions include the following:

  • More organic produce items including potatoes, onions, and cabbage
  • Broad new selection of Badia seasonings for multicultural flavors at a great value
  • New Grab & Go cases for deli favorites, plus a new soup bar arriving this Fall for meals on the go
  • More storefront windows at the entrance/exit to decrease the wind and cold from entering the store during Boston winters
  • New dual use registers arriving this Fall, allowing for more lanes to be self-scan, as needed, to ensure a fast and efficient checkout experience
  • A community mural representing the City of Boston, with a special nod to Southie

The remodel is part of Stop & Shop’s ongoing commitment to improve the shopping experience for its local customers, and the store was renovated to offer a more modern, convenient and welcoming grocery experience for the Southie community. To reinforce its commitment to providing high-quality fresh products, Stop & Shop’s Freshness Guarantee also ensures that if any purchase of fresh items like produce, dairy, meat, or seafood does not meet customers’ expectations, the store will provide double their money back.

“This remodel is about more than updating a store. It’s about showing our Southie neighbors that we’ve listened,” said Munish Kumar, Manager of Stop & Shop South Boston. “Our neighbors’ feedback helped shape improvements throughout the store, creating a more enjoyable and convenient shopping experience. We’re proud to be part of this community and excited to welcome customers into a refreshed space that feels inviting, reflects the character of the neighborhood, and is something they can take pride in.”

To celebrate the grand reopening, Stop & Shop is donating $2,000 to the South Boston Allied War Veterans Council for the work they do to support the community, including production of the annual St. Patrick’s Day Parade. Stop & Shop will also host three days of giveaways, local food sampling, family-friendly activities and special surprises. The celebration begins when doors open at 7 a.m. on Friday, August 28. The first 100 customers in line will each receive a $25 Stop & Shop gift card, and one lucky shopper will be surprised with a “golden ticket” worth a $250 gift card.
