Last month, President Joe Biden nominated Mayor Marty Walsh as Labor Secretary. On Thursday, Walsh will appear before a U.S. Senate committee for his confirmation hearing.
The Senate’s Health, Education, Labor and Pensions Committee will be leading the hearing which is scheduled for 10 a.m. You can watch a livestream fo the hearing here!
What exactly does that mean?
Well, if Marty Walsh gets confirmed as the Labor Secretary and he accepts the job in Washington D.C. that means the Kim Janey – the City Councilor President will be acting Mayor of Boston. She would be the first Black Bostonian and woman to serve in this role!
Councilors Michelle Wu, Andrea Campbell and Annissa Essaibi George have all announced they are running for mayor. It is expected that more will throw their hat in the ring for the race for mayor of Boston.
