John Barros will enter the race for mayor!
Another hat in the ring – making it a total of 5 candidates running!
John Barros is launching his campaign for Mayor of Boston Thursday morning at 10am at Restaurante Cesaria, the Dorchester restaurant that he operates. Last week, Barros resigned as the City of Boston’s economic development chief.
The Roxbury native and Dorchester resident is no stranger to politics, he placed sixth in the 2013 preliminary mayoral race that Marty Walsh eventually won. In addition to his role as economic development chief, Barros served on the Boston School Committee and as the executive director of the Dudley Street Neighborhood Initiative.

Barros joins four other candidates including City Councilor-at-Large Michelle Wu, City Councilor Andrea Campbell City Councilor-at-Large Annissa Essaibi George and Jon Santiago.
Mayor Walsh is expected to be confirmed as the new US Labor Secretary any day now.
