It’s one of the downsides of living in the city. There are always thieves lurking about reading to snatch your Amazon packages. BPD warns of this activity several times a year.
CBS Local is reporting that one Southie resident is warning his neighbors to watch out for what appears to be a very bold bandit going to the same stoops over and over!
“I saw the same person come by with a bunch of bags filled with other packages that he presumably had taken from other people in South Boston,” said Brian Moseley.
A doorbell camera caught all of the illegal activity. A neighbor saw the thievery and confronted the bandit who then ran off. This bandit is known to the neighborhood. Stealing off of people’s stoops seems to be this thief’s livelihood. You can see the video here.
You can read more about this situation here.
As always, if you see something, say something. You can call BPD (617) 343-4330 or by anonymously calling the CrimeStoppers Tip Line at 1(800) 494-TIPS or by texting the word ‘TIP’ to CRIME (27463).

Two weeks now!!!!! the police should of caught him within two to three days! there are no excuses GET HIM NOW!!! as the guy said it won’t be the police that catch this clown but it will be the neighborhood that will catch him!!! To BPD is this what you really want??? A vigilante neighborhood!? Don’t get me wrong I’m all for the police, I come from a family of police offices and I respect what they do but this is unacceptable do your job get the guy. The bottom line here is if I catch the guy I’m going to hurt him and badly!!!
REVERSE: During the Depression (1930’s) Monday was Irish Wash Day in Southie’s Lower End. Things were scarce then especially sheets, pillow cases, towels, face cloths. A careful observer would notice who was short what from the hangings on their cloth lines. My grandfather made careful notice and was able to determine which families needed what. He worked at Boston City Hospital as a Janitor. He never came home without a shopping bag full of “stuff.” He kept Moxie Bottle Crates in the basement with specific families names on them. He would fill each one with whatever a family needed (sheets etc). When it got dark he sent my mother/uncle out with the boxes to place outside their front door. He said “ring the bell and run like hell.”
They did. Then on the next Monday he and everyone would see these items hanging on the lines drying. The only problem was on each item was in dark black the Seal of the City of Boston : BOSTON CITY HOSPITAL. Everyone knew where they came from but nobody said anything. They put the crates outside their door for the next delivery. In the meantime my Grandmother use to send money periodically to the CITY OF BOSTON
CONSCIENCE FUND! This is one of my of my family stories.
…loony-tune Dim-o-crat left in this once-great city who’s still toeing the party line and lying through their teeth that “…at least we’re not San Fran/NYC/Baltimore/Chicago…”…etc….should be removed from office….

Because we are.
A friendly reminder, I am an Amazon Flex driver. Routes begin at 330am. To help curb EARLY MORNING, before 9am thefts, put in instructions DO NOT DELIVER before 9am. If you ask for any time earlier it will be put out for delivery on the earliest routes. I hold my breath for days after doing a Southie route waiting for the inevitable PACKAGE NOT RECEIVED ‘ email. We are instructed to call you and text you at ANY TIME OF DAY with issues,i.e. no safe place to leave. I’m not happy to call anyone at 4am. Not many that answer are either
Is the person taking the items being selfish? Or maybe they are in need and must resort to this for survival? Before we judge, we should seek understanding and compassion.
