South Boston Man Convicted of First-Degree Murder in 2023 Geneva Avenue Shooting
A South Boston man has been convicted of first-degree murder in connection with a deadly 2023 shooting on Geneva Avenue in Dorchester.
According to Universal Hub, a Suffolk Superior Court jury convicted 30-year-old Patrick Harland of South Boston for his role in the shooting death of Curtis Effee at 417 Geneva Ave. on December 30, 2023. Harland was not accused of firing the shots, but prosecutors said he planned and led an assault on Effee that ultimately resulted in his death.
Harland was also convicted of witness intimidation, accessory before the fact, and unlawful possession of a firearm. The first-degree murder conviction carries an automatic sentence of life without parole, pending review by the Massachusetts Supreme Judicial Court.
Two other men involved in the shooting, Dasahn Crowder and Tyreese Robinson, pleaded guilty earlier this year to manslaughter and armed assault to murder. Both were sentenced to 25 to 30 years in state prison.
