Aww, rats! We made the Orkin’s America’s rattiest cities list.

According to the Orkin’s Top 50 Rattiest Cities 2023 List, Boston is listed as lucky #13. A few years ago, Boston had the second highest number of rat and mouse sightings in the 15 most populated cities in the US, according to census data.
Rodent infestation has clearly been a problem in neighborhoods across the city. Back in April 2022, the Boston City Council held a hearing on rodent control. The hearing was intended to discuss measures that the city can take to respond to the uptick in rodent activities, as well as long-term strategies that will reduce the rats and pests populations in our neighborhoods. Over the summer, we nominated Tigger a neighborhood cat who specializes in hunting rats as “Rat Czar” for the city of Boston. We also can’t forget about this “situation” that involved not one, not two, but a barrel of rats!
On a personal note, I saw two rats on East Fourth Street early this morning on my walk to yoga (humble brag).

Well, if they would STOP digging up the ground, where the rats live, and stop the abundance of building, we probably wouldn’t have the rat problem that we have.
Emerson Street, from K to L Streets is over run with rats and still morons put out their garbage, dog waste bags and full diapers, all of which rats find so tasty. Wake up.
