Two more life science buildings coming to the neighborhood
Southie Real Estate Trend Alert – Life Science Buildings Everywhere.
Real estate firm Marcus Partners revealed its plan to build two life sciences buildings located on Northern Ave right near Harpoon Brewery. The parcel is currently occupied by New Boston Seafood Center.
Back in July, Marcus first a letter of intent with the Boston Planning and Development Agency of its plans to transform the 4.3-acre nook of land at 310 Northern Ave.
According to the Boston Business Journal, the plan includes, 444,000 square feet of laboratory and research-and-development space with another 18,000 square feet of retail space. The other building, at 5 Fid Kennedy Ave., would include 276,000 square feet for labs and R&D, with 4,000 square feet of retail.
The developer also Marcus has promised to build a new facility for two of the businesses now at the seafood center. It will be located across the way at the Massport Marine Terminal.
About 3,400 full-time life sciences employees are expected to work at the two buildings.
