PROJECT PROPONENT: 215 West Eighth Street LLC

DESCRIPTION: The proposed project consists of a new five-story mixed-use building at 243-245 Dorchester Street in South Boston. The new building will contain twenty dwelling units intended to be condominium units for sale, in light of the site’s close proximity to Red Line rapid transit, as well as ground floor commercial space. The residential units are planned to be smaller in size, thus providing a more naturally affordable home ownership opportunity.

Do we know if/how Alfredo’s will be affected?

Good question! I’m guessing they’ll be offered the commercial space but they most likely will have to close during construction.

I think the owner of Alfredo is the developer.

my chief concern is an already congested parking situation in that part of town how many existing units and how many units are planned is there parking off site for the additional automobiles if not I would be highly against this project.

I believe it’s only 3 units now and the new plan is 20 units with only 6 garage parking spots. The garage entry would be on W 8th St which will take away at least 2 public parking spots as well. Highly oppose this unless they intend to significantly decrease the number of units.

Going to ruin the views of the homes across the street and tower over the residences on West 8th Steet…think this neighborhood has dealt with enough new construction for now.
