Gillette Moves Forward with $1 Billion South Boston Headquarters Plans

Gillette is moving forward with plans for a new $1 billion headquarters along the Fort Point Channel in South Boston.
According to Banker & Tradesman, Gillette’s parent company, Procter & Gamble, has purchased the 2.4-acre property at 232 A Street for $99.3 million. The site, currently a surface parking lot, was actually sold by Procter & Gamble back in 2021 for $80 million.
Plans previously approved for the property call for a more than 324,000-square-foot office and lab development, along with 1.5 acres of public open space along Fort Point Channel and new flood protection measures. Gillette says its new headquarters will be built under those existing approvals.
The move comes as Gillette shifts its manufacturing operations to Andover, allowing the company to operate on a smaller footprint in South Boston.
And there could be even more big changes ahead. Gillette is also proposing to redevelop its existing 31-acre South Boston campus into a massive 5.7 million-square-foot mixed-use development featuring up to 20 buildings. That project is currently under review by the City of Boston.
We’ll keep you posted!
