It’s that time of year!  Time for the Mayor of Southie race!  What is the Mayor of Southie race? Well, at the St. Patrick’s Day Parade, one special resident who raises the most money will become the Mayor of Southie!  The winner will get to march in the parade with five friends along with a sash announcing their honorary title plus Dropkick Murphy tickets! This competition is organized by parade organizers – the South Boston Allied War Veterans’ Council and all funds raised go to support of the 2020 local parade.

Meet Candidate Christina Andrade!

Age: 31

Job/Profession: director of operations for a web development company downtown

How long have you lived in Southie? 8 years

Why are you participating?

I have always encouraged our friends from out of town to celebrate South Boston’s day, the Saint Patrick’s Day parade. It gives others a chance to see what Southie is all about, a community that really rallies for one another. In the last 8 years I have lived here, I have watched this community rally for each other whether that be celebrating and building each other up or in times of need and loss. I am very proud to call Southie my home and love being a part of this community. It has given me a home, opportunities, lifelong friends and a place to create a family.

How can people show their support for you?

I plan to have a few raffles at local businesses and be on the lookout for some local events!  People can also donate directly here.

Christina is hosting her first Mayor of Southie event on Friday, January 31st at 6:30 p.m. at L Street Tavern!  There will be raffles, cash bar and lots of fun!
