Community Meeting Scheduled for Oct. 21s to Discuss Marian Manor Redevelopment Proposal

Be informed. Get involved.

A community meeting is scheduled to discuss the future of the former Marian Manor property in South Boston.

Developer Joey Arcari, who recently purchased the property from the Carmelite Sisters, is proposing to transform the site into residential apartments, primarily by converting the interiors of the existing buildings.

As we previously reported, Arcari purchased the former nursing home earlier this year for $16 million. In April, his company, Monarc Development, filed a letter of intent proposing approximately 204 apartments, including 37 affordable units and 164 parking spaces. You can read our earlier coverage of the property’s sale and the proposed redevelopment.

Community Meeting Details

A community meeting will take place on Wednesday, October 21st, at 6pm at the Tynan Community School auditorium, 650 East Fourth Street.

Arcari and his development team will host the meeting to discuss the proposal and hear from neighbors. This is not a City of Boston meeting. The Boston Planning Department will hold its own public meetings at a later date.

Given the property’s history and the community’s interest in its future, residents are encouraged to attend, learn more about the plans, and ask questions.
