Marty Walsh is officially the US Labor Secretary

Marty Walsh has officially been confirmed by the US Senate to be the next Labor Secretary. Final vote was 68 YEA and 29 NAY. Back in January, President Joe Biden nominated Mayor Marty Walsh as Labor Secretary.
Kim Janey is now acting Mayor of Boston
Now that Walsh is heading to Washington DC that means the Kim Janey – the City Councilor President will be acting Mayor of Boston. She is the first Black Bostonian and woman to serve in this role!
John Barros recently joined four other candidates including City Councilor-at-Large Michelle Wu, City Councilor Andrea Campbell City Councilor-at-Large Annissa Essaibi George and Jon Santiago.
