Fire Puncher Celebration

On a cold day in January 1887, a fire broke out and flames erupted from the iron foundry on Dorchester Avenue in South Boston. Before firemen could get there, local legend Tommy Maguire raised a ladder and climbed to the roof where he “undertook to fight the flames with his fists.” The fire eventually subsided but the legend of Tommy Maguire lives on.

To celebrate this memorable day, GrandTen will be hosting its 11th annual celebration on Saturday, February 4 at 6pm at their distillery in Southie. Attendees will be able to enjoy tacos, oysters, hot sauce, and taste GrandTen’s special small batch release vodka: Fire Puncher Anejo. The event also features a fire-eating performance. New Coffee Shop Alert

Koko Cafe Boston is now open! The new coffee shop will serve breakfast, lunch, and of course, coffee! If you stop by this week, be aware that not everything on their menu is available yet but should be soon! Koko Cafe started off as a mobile espresso and coffee bar but its new location will be its first brick-and-mortar shop!  The menu features everything from espresso to iced coffee plus items like Açaí pitaya bowl, cornbread french toast, baked eggs + chorizo for breakfast.  The lunch menu features BALT, Chicken Pita, Chicken Club plus pierogis for lunch/dinner! They will be open 7 days a week!

Heated Yoga at Evolve Power Yoga

Take a Heated Vinyasa class this weekend at Evolve Power Yoga. A vigorous and challenging style of yoga designed to build strength, balance, and flexibility, each class is based upon a Vinyasa flow including inversions, arm balances, and core work. Puppy Bowl at Polkadog Bakery

On Sunday, February 5 from 10am-1pm Polkadog Bakery in Seaport will host a Puppy Bowl with official Puppy Bowl Referee Dan Schachner. Schultz’s Guest House will also be on-site with adorable, adoptable pups and Bond Vet will be serving up tasty dog treats out of their ice cream cart. While tickets are complimentary, Polkadog Bakery will be taking a suggested donation of $5 at the event and 100% of proceeds will be donated to Schultz’s Guest House. Attendees who make a donation will receive 5 raffle tickets for a chance to win special prizes from Polkadog, Bond Vet, Open Farm, Tall Tails, Stella & Chewy’s, Springer, and more. DJ Silent Partner will be spinning on Saturday night at Capo. On Sunday, it’s Sinatra Sunday with Rick DiMare and the Ron Poster Trio.

Lincoln will host Legends of Summer Band on Sunday from 6pm-9pm.

Loco has DJ Colin Tonge on Friday from 9pm-close.  On Saturday it’s DJ Mike D. at 9pm and on Sunday, it’s Zane Christopher from 2pm-5pm and DJ Colin Tonge from 3pm-8pm in the lounge.

The Broadway is hosting DJ Zack Landers on Friday and DJ Mike Bose on Saturday.
