Outdoor Dining This Weekend

One good thing to come from the pandemic is all the outdoor patios popping up in the neighborhood. The forecast looks pretty good this weekend for enjoying the great outdoors!  So here’s a running list of patios and outdoor dining in our neighborhood! Make your reservations!

Black Owned Boston Pop Up

The return of Seaport x Black Owned Bos. Market, taking place one Sunday per month from 12-6pm, on Seaport Common beginning Sunday, April 25th through Sunday, October 17th.  Black Owned Bos. Market, a very successful one day pop-up that first took place in August 2020 and returned for a second time in October 2020.  This year, you can enjoy the spacious outdoor market on April 25th, May 23rd, June 27th, July 25th, August 29th, September 26th and October 17th to discover more than 30 Black-owned businesses from throughout the Greater Boston area. Visitors will find art, skincare lines, house plants, adult and children’s clothing, and even metaphysical offerings, all developed by local Black entrepreneurs. Loco for Lunch

Get the weekend rolling with some some tacos and margaritas at Loco! They open for lunch on Friday at 11am-3pm.  Patio is open too! Brunch and dinner on Saturday and Sunday! Let’s go!

Recycle Your Jeans

In the spirit of Earth Day, Injeanius wants you to recycle your old jeans! Bring them in to their Seaport Shop and you’ll get 20% off a new pair (some restrictions apply). Maybe consider a sustainable pair of denim for your closet! Open Thursday-Saturday 12-7 and Sunday 12-5.

New Hours + Brunch Menu for Lulu Green

Lulu Green – Southie’s favorite plant-based fast-casual restaurant on West Broadway is now open Tuesday-Sunday 9am-8pm and has some new brunch items for you to try like The Brunch Sandwich with Chickpea Egg, Tofu Bacon, Potato Pancake, Marinated Kale and Avocado, Tahini, Hot Sauce, House-made Simit Bun! MyStryde Roof Top Classes

While MyStryde’s full outdoor schedule starts May 1st, they aren’t going to let these sunny April weekends go to waste. Sign ups are live for Saturday April 24th at 9am and 10am for a Power X full body classes on the downtown roof deck (They provide weights at mats). You can sign up for virtual or in-person! Writing Happy Hour with GrubStreet

Round out the week with a free writing session from GrubStreet on Friday, April 23rd, from 5:30pm-6:30pm.  Grab a snack and/or your favorite after-work beverage, and log into GrubStreet Remote for some writing! This local and beloved cookie company has opened in Adams Village at 516 Gallivan Boulevard.  Top Shelf Cookies will offer fresh baked cookies in a dozen flavors, a flavored milk bar, ice cream cookie sandwiches, and cookie frappes! Boston Harbor Distillery + Summer Shack

Get an early taste of Summer! Timothy Cook Scholarship

The applications are available for the Timothy “Doc” Cook Scholarship! Application must be received no later than April 30, 2021. Winners will be announced during an award ceremony in May. Applicants must be a South Boston student attending tuition-based schools grades 8–12.  You can learn the details here! The Timothy (Doc) Cook Foundation is dedicated to supporting programs to increase awareness and prevent hidden wounds that travel with veterans.

StoryWalk Series returns

Families and caregivers looking for a fun April vacation children’s activity are invited to head outside for the Boston Parks Department second StoryWalk series in City of Boston parks, available Tuesday, April 20, through Monday, May 10. StoryWalks can be found in Allston, Chinatown,  Dorchester, East Boston, Fenway-Kenmore, Hyde Park, Mattapan, Roslindale, and Roxbury. Each bilingual installation will feature English alongside one of eight additional languages: Spanish, Russian, Simplified Chinese, Vietnamese, Arabic, Somali, Portuguese, and Haitian Creole. City of Boston is launching B-Local,, a points-based program that offers rewards for shopping locally. The goal is to support local business recovery by incentivizing Bostonians to spend locally. By using the simple B-Local mobile app, shoppers earn rewards automatically at hundreds of participating local businesses across the City of Boston when they make purchases with registered credit, debit, or prepaid debit cards linked to their B-Local account. These rewards may then be applied as cash discounts to a growing list of redeeming businesses.
