Ring it in! And just like that, 2016 is almost over. New Year’s Eve is the biggest party night of the year. But why not skip the frenzy downtown, the struggle for a cab and the fight for a drink and stay local? Here are some of our favorite picks for a very Southie New Year’s Eve.
Have a good laugh! Get ready to spend the night laughing – and honestly, who doesn’t need a good laugh? Head to the Seapoint on Wednesday, December 28th at 8pm for a comedy night! Your host is Chris Kinback and will featuring some hilarious local comics like Dan Boulger and CIS favorite Will Noonan – plus many more! And guess what? The show is free! So really, you have no excuse to not head out for a night of fun! Must be 21+ to attend! For more information visit here!
See clearly! Wink Eyecare wants to remind you to use your flex spending before the end of the 2016 and your benefits expire! Make an appointment this week to get your eyes examined. Wink Eyecare is the leading provider of optometry services, eye glasses and contact lenses in the South Boston community. For more information visit here!
Go with the flow! Instead of popping champagne on New Year’s Eve, how about celebrating with a little yoga! Join South Boston Yoga at their 10th Annual New Year’s Eve Celebration. Join studio owner David Vendetti for a 2 hour celebratory yoga class combining yoga, meditation, reflection, and gratitude – the perfect recipe for manifesting a beautiful year to come. Cookies, chai, and socializing will be waiting for you in 2017 (after class!) All levels welcome! $30 in advance. $35 at the door!
Take the plunge! We hear the best way to cure a hangover is to dive into the freezing cold ocean for a swim! While there is no scientific research to back that up, it’s a great way to help out the Scleroderma Foundation! What better way to start off 2016 then by doing something for a great cause! Meet Kevin Conroy and friends in front of L Street Tavern at 8am on Sunday, January 1st at 9:30am and then be escorted down L Street by 103rd Postal Fire Column Pipes and Drums. At the L Street Bathhouse, strip down and take an ice-cold plunge! Warm up back at L Street Tavern for raffles, prizes and a really good time! Even if you are too chicken to jump into the freezing cold ocean, come by to support the participants brave enough to take the plunge and to support the Scleroderma Foundation! You can make a donation either by check or by visiting here!
Bonus:
Boston residents can place their Christmas trees curbside for composting between January 2nd and January 13th. Please remove ornaments, decorations, and stands from Christmas trees. Do not put trees in plastic bags. Place trees at the curb by 7:00 am on recycling collection day. Christmas trees will be recycled during these two weeks only. For more information please visit the City’s website.
