And just like that, 2016 is almost over. New Year’s Eve is the biggest party night of the year. But why not skip the frenzy downtown, the struggle for a cab and the fight for a drink and stay local? Here are some of our favorite picks for a very Southie New Year’s Eve.

The Playwright
Keep your sanity by staying local!  Dance your way into the 2017 to the tunes of DJ Mike Bose!  Party kicks off at 8pm.  Tickets includes champagne toast and hors d’oeuvres! Score your tickets here!

Stats Bar & Grille

Lincoln Tavern & Restaurant
No cover. No ticket. Just their famous chef specials and DJ LayZBoy from 9pm-2am.  Dinner served from 5-10pm! Reservations strongly recommended!  Lincoln will also be open for New Year’s Brunch with a live DJ playing during commercials!

Loco Taqueria and Oyster Bar
No cover, no hassle! Loco will be celebrating the end of 2016 with a special tequila toast at midnight. Bring on 2017!  Open for regular brunch on Sunday and then open again for brunch on Monday at 10am with live music!  Muy bien!

Capo
New Year’s Eve, Capo is hosting the Mark Shilansky Trio in their newly opened downstairs from 8 – 11 pm, followed by a DJ. Guests can dance the year away after enjoying dinner in the restaurant from Executive Chef Tony Susi, with classic Italian fare like Swordfish Puttanesca (caper, garlic, anchovy & olive sugo, crispy artichokes) and Wood Grilled Chicken Cacciatore (peppers, onions, mushrooms sugo). Bar Director Kevin Mabry will keep the party going with his wines on tap and craft cocktails like the Cornucopia (Bulleit bourbon, Cardamaro, butternut squash, chocolate mole bitters) and the Capo favorite Espresso Martini (Tito’s vodka, Capo cold brew coffee, Galliano Ristretto, cacao, cream). At Capo,  guests can ring in 2017 with a special evening of great food and live music.

Local 149

South Boston Candlepin

Tavern Road
The tradition continues! Make your last meal of 2016 unforgettable with the annual New Year’s Eve pig roast.  Tickets are $65 and include a whole roasted pig, plenty of sides, party favors galore, and a bubbly toast at midnight. Cheers!

Glow big this NYE at District Hall! The annual Glow New Year’s Eve party starts at 8:00 PM. See Southie’s favorite band Thomas Park at New Year’s Eve Bash at the McKeon Post (4 Hilltop Street) in Dorchester from 7pm-1am.  $50 per couple, $25 per person.  Includes live entertainment, Chinese food buffet, champagne toast, party favors and a really good time!
