Oktoberfest at The LOT
@onthedotboston is hosting its annual Oktoberfest again! Be sure to stop by The LOT on Saturday, October 12th, from 1-7PM! All day long, there will be live music by Broken Heels, ax throwing, pumpkin painting, caricature artist drawings, and, of course, drinks and beer in the Cannonball Cantina! Food options will include Mexican food from Northeast of the Border, snacks from Cannonball Cantina, and fun fair food such as fried dough and fried Oreos! The cantina will sell all types of beer, seltzers, cocktails, and more. For an added sense of authenticity, there will be three German beer tents as well: Hacker-Pschorr, Paulaner München, Hofbräu Festzelt. Bark the Vote: Seaport to Elect First-Ever Dog Mayor in 2024
This fall, the Seaport District is officially going to the dogs! Seaport is thrilled to announce the launch of Bark The Vote, an initiative to elect the neighborhood’s first-ever Dog Mayor. From running free at Sea Green Dog Park to sniffing out the best treats at Polkadog Bakery, dogs are woven into the fabric of Seaport life—and now it’s time to give them a voice (or, at least, a woof). The fun starts with the Pooch Primaries on October 15, 2024, when the top five candidates—nominated by the public—will vie for the coveted Dog Mayor title. Voting closes on October 30, with the winner to be announced on November 1, 2024. Check out the candidates here!
The Bruins are Back in Action
The Bruins 2024-2025 Season kicks off this week with three games. On Tuesday, October 8th at 7pm the Bruins face the Panthers. On Thursday, October 10th they face the Canadians and on Saturday it’s the Kings. Here are 12 Places to Watch the Game in South Boston!
Boston Fire Aerial Drill Team Exhibition
You’ll have two opportunities to check out the Boston Fire Aerial Drill team this week! On Monday, they be performing at City Hall Plaza at 1pm and on Saturday, at Castle Island at 12pm. Since as early as the 1930’s, the Aerial Exhibition Drill Team has demonstrated the skills and capabilities of the Boston Fire Depatment during Fire Prevention Week. You can learn more here.
Register to Run the MR8K
The Martin Richard Foundation, in partnership with the Boston Bruins Foundation, New Balance, WS Development, and DMSE Sports, will host the seventh annual MR8K on Sunday, October 13. For the second consecutive year, the 5-mile race will take place in Boston’s Seaport District. Registration is open at mr8k.org/.
Volunteers Wanted to Plant Daffodil Bulbs with the WBNA
The West Broadway Neighborhood Association (WBNA) is looking for some helping hands! On Saturday, October 26th at 10am, join friends and neighbors for some daffodil planting in the West Broadway neighborhood!
The WBNA needs help planting over 1300 bulbs! Meet in front of 9 West Broadway at 10am. No previous gardening experience is needed. WBNA supplies the gloves and the tools; bring your energy and willingness to help beautify!
