Yolanda Cerullo Celebrates 100th Birthday in the Neighborhood

Coast Guard Veteran Yolanda Cerullo rang in her 100th birthday in style, complete with a birthday tiara and wand, alongside residents and staff of Compass on the Bay in South Boston. Friends, guests, including local politicians, veterans, and neighbors were part of the celebration!
Cerullo’s birthday is technically coming up on August 29th, and the Thomas J. Fitzgerald VFW Post 561 planned the celebration for Cerullo this past Saturday.
According to the Boston Globe, Cerullo grew up in the North End before moving to East Boston and then South Boston. She served in the US Coast Guard during World War II, a time when women served in separate reserves from men.
If the name Cerullo sounds familiar, it’s because Yolanda’s brother Ottavi0, also turned 100 back in 2021 with a celebration at Compass on the Bay. Sadly, Ottavio passed away last year.
Happy Birthday, Yolanda!Â
