Who wants to be Mayor of Southie 2024? Sign-ups happening in December
The Countdown to the St. Patrick’s Day Parade Begins!
How does marching/riding in the 2024 St. Patrick’s Day parade in a prominent spot, sporting a “Mayor of Southie” sash with some of your friends sound? Well, it could be you this year! The organizers of the parade – The Allied War Veterans Council- have announced that the Mayor of Southie contest is back for another year! This fundraising effort allows members of the South Boston community to participate in a spirited competition to help raise funds to support the parade! The campaign is open to residents of South Boston, Business owners, and their employees located in South Boston. Individuals who have run campaigns within the last five years are not eligible to run campaigns
What does that mean?
Basically, you organize fundraising events to support your candidacy for Mayor of Southie. Think mixers at bars, karaoke parties, raffles and more! If you raise the most funds, you’re the winner! So you get to have fun events during the long and long days of winter, help raise money for the parade, and potentially have bragging rights for a year that you’re the Mayor of Southie!
Sign-ups for those individuals interested in vying for the honor of the 2024 Mayor of Southie will be held on 4 different dates at 4 locations. Individuals must sign up at one of the sign-up events:

I nominate Rick Winterson of South Boston Online. I doubt if he’ll accept, but few would be so qualified!
I nominate SISTER EVELYN HURLEY SCN ( Sr Alice William) currently residing in Kentucky. If anyone knows SOUTHIE she does. She is 105 and has all of her wits about her.
