Two Under Arrest and Firearm Recovered Following Shots Fired in the area of 1100 Massachusetts Avenue

One Less Gun: At about 6:58 PM, on Friday May 1, 2020, an officer assigned to the South Bay Mall, located at 8 Allstate Road in Dorchester, heard what he believed to be several gun shots in the area of 1100 Massachusetts Avenue. An additional officer working a paid detail also heard the gunshots and further observed two individuals, later identified as Ronilson Depina, 21, of Hyde Park and Pedro Daveiga, 24, of Dorchester, fleeing the area on foot while carrying red and white Target bags. One of the suspects could be seen holding his waistband with one hand and the bag in the other.
Officers pursued the two suspects and apprehended them in the area of 7 Baker Court. A search of the nearby area yielded the recovery of a red and white Target bag containing various store merchandise and a Glock 43 9mm firearm. Ballistic evidence was recovered at the scene.
Depina and Daveiga were placed under arrest for Unlawful Possession of a Firearm, Discharging a Firearm within 500 feet of a Dwelling and Unlawful Possession of Ammunition. They are expected to be arraigned in South Boston District Court.
