Space savers in Southie with not a flake of snow on the ground.
Good grief.
I mean, technically, a Snow Emergency was called in the City of Boston. And technically, we can use a space-saver for 48 hours after the snow emergency is lifted, but this must be pushing it a little, no?
These two photos were sent to us from Southie neighbors on Tuesday morning.
According to our Unofficial Rules for Saving a Spot after a Snowstorm, you can’t preemptively save a spot before it snows and you must shovel your spot – so these space savers are violating these rules.
Bottomline – be a good neighbor. If you think putting a space saver over with no snow on the ground is your right and privilege, good luck to you. But don’t be pissed and complain if your neighbor moves it.
Thank you to Mandy and Claire for sending us these photos!

If a snow emergency is called in the city you have 48 hours for a spot saver then must remove it. If no snow I guess you have a spot.
…”guessing” wrong.
Stay in your lane, joker.
No George if theres actually snow that you busted your Ass shoveling out… then you keep it , not when it rains snow emergency or Not !
In the 50’s and 60’s if someone did something like this (the pic) there was a way fellow neighbors would
respond and it wasn’t pretty. When you came out in the morning to go to work you would see the WAY they
dealt with you. You would NEVER do it again.

aaah, the good old days right Justin? where people bought cars to City Point to burn after stealing them and getting the crap beaten out of you was just something that happened from time to time. Too bad the yuppies ruined the neighborhood..
This said, I would have tossed the chair on the sidewalk and parked there if I needed a spot.
…tough guy.
you got that one right. I’m a JP girl myself. no one dared to take my Fathers spot back in the day.
….according to the Glob, the Herald and pretty much every newscast across the country (every time it snows in Boston, that is), that only happens in South Boston ….right?
