One CIS reader, Rilla Perkins, sent us this photo of a strange, blueish/purple glowing mass floating in the sky behind the clouds over Southie. It was captured on Tuesday night from the South End with an iPhone. No editing has been done to the photo. (Make sure to follow Rilla on Instagram)
It looks like something right out of Ghostbusters or Close Encounters of the Third Kind. Is it a UFO? Aurora borealis aka Northern Lights?
Whatever it is, it’s a little bit freaky to see it looming in the Southie sky.

About a year ago, a Caught in Dot (our sister site) reader sent us a photo of what he believed to be a UFO. Hmmmm….
UFO sightings in the area are not uncommon. Massachusetts ranked #10 for UFO sightings in August of 2020 by the The Mutual UFO Network, or MUFON. So who’s to say?

Fore river Bridge
Yes, we have one of those in my town just south of Boston! But we fiģured out it was the lights of the Fore River Bridge refecting on the clouds. Maybe its from the Zakim Bridge or lights in the Seaport? Sorry to burst any alièn dreams! 😁
