Coyotes are no strangers to Southie.  They’ve been spotted numerous times in the past around town. Apparently they come to the neighborhood for the Canada Geese and the nightlife.

Last week one was spotted on C Street and on Tuesday night, a coyote was spied in the City Point neighborhood.  Police are warning people to beware – coyotes can be aggressive and like to eat pets – so keep them inside.  Animal control will be in the area trying to find the Southie Coyote.

I live on first street between K and I and from my window I’ve observed all kinds of interesting wildlife heading into the brush surrounding the power plant; Giant raccoons, coyotes, stuff I don’t recognize, as I am a city girl…

There are two of them in the neighborhood. I personally saw them both hanging out in front of my house on W 3rd St last week. Instead of warning people to be careful, animal control should scour the neighborhood and catch them. There is also a skunk on our block that I’ve seen quite a few times now.

Ouch! Not only are coyotes extremely dangerous and aggressive, but they carry disease, to boot. Calling on a local Animal Control company to handle them is the wisest thing to do. Keep dogs and cats inside, if any coyotes are spotted. Here’s hoping I’ve been of some help here.
