At about 4:19 PM on Monday April 26, 2021, officers assigned to District A-1 (Downtown) responded to a call for a bank robbery in progress in the area of 1 Union Street in Boston which resulted in the arrest of Coleman Nee, 40, of South Boston. When the officers arrived on scene, they were advised that the suspect had entered the bank and threatened to shoot a teller before fleeing on foot with an undisclosed amount of U.S. Currency.
Officers shared a detailed suspect description as they began to canvas the area. A short time later, MBTA Transit Police Officers located and stopped the suspect in the area of the Downtown Crossing MBTA Station. While no weapon was located, officers were able to recover the stolen cash from the suspect who was then placed in custody.
The suspect will appear in Boston Municipal Court on charges of Armed Robbery (Bank).
