Public Info Meeting: Day Blvd

Update: Initially the title of this post stated Day Blvd. and Farragut Road.  The meeting in fact will only include Day Boulevard up to Farragut Road.  (Although, if we know Southie, Farragut Road will be mentioned and discussed. Farragut Road is City of Boston and Day Blvd. is State.)

With recent concerns over the safety of Day Boulevard and Farragut Road, Mass DOT and DCR are partnering up for a special public information meeting on Wednesday, July 18th from 6:30pm-8:30pm. See press release below:

The Mass. Department of Transportation and the Mass. Department of Conservation and Recreation Invite you to a PUBLIC INFORMATION MEETING regarding the Day Boulevard Targeted Safety Improvement Project (State Police Driveway to Farragut Road)  on Wednesday, July 18, 2018 – 6:30 PM – 8:30 PM at the Curley Community Center 1663 Columbia Rd.

A public information meeting will be held regarding proposed targeted safety improvements along William J. Day Boulevard from the State Police Driveway to Farragut Road. A Road Safety Audit (RSA) of the corridor was conducted in February 2018; these safety improvements will focus on implementing the recommendations identified in the RSA for the corridor.

The Curley Center is accessible. To request language or access accommodations, please contact MassDOT’s director of Civil Rights at 857-368-8580, TTD/TTY 857-368-0603, Fax 857-368-0602 or by email at [email protected].

I hope something substantive is accomplished this time. These meetings over the years (generally called after a tragedy) haven’t seemed to do much as far as slowing drivers down and improving safety for both pedestrians and drivers alike

Too bad they couldn’t come up with a scheme
( building a bypass road near JFK or koscio circle along train tracks to south station) so south shore traffic wouldn’t have to cut through southie. I’m sure someone with some imagination could come up with a plan.

This title is a little confusing. The press release states that the meeting is about improving Day Blvd ( not Farragut Rd – just Day Blvd UP TO Farragut Rd) .

This article title is a little off I think . The press release states that the meeting is about improving Day Blvd ( not Farragut Rd – just Day Blvd UP TO Farragut Rd) .
