Be informed. Get involved.

On Thursday, June 24th at 6:30pm, City Councilor Ed Flynn, along with representatives from the Boston Transportation Department and Boston Police Department, will meet with concerned residents about the intersection of N and East Broadway at the intersection itself.  Anyone that travels through this intersection understands how tricky it can be, turning left from N onto East Broadway.

This past Saturday, there were two public safety incidents on N Street. One during the day at the corner of N and Fourth when a pedestrian was struck by a car.  The second one was later in the day involving a deadly collision of a motorbike and a vehicle at N and Broadway.

According to residents who live in this area, N Street is being used as a cut-through from Day Blvd. from the highway in an effort to avoid traffic and the lights on L Street. With a new South Boston Catholic Academy Pre-School opening at N and Fourth (in the old St. Brigid Convent) in the fall with over 120 students in attendance, residents are hoping to see traffic and pedestrian safety measures put into place before September.

N Street isn’t the only problem area for traffic/pedestrian safety issues in the neighborhood.  L + 6th, Farragut Road, Summer Street and Day Blvd. have all had serious incidents involving speeding cars and or distracted drivers – so incidents resulting in death.

If you would like to be a part of this meeting on Thursday night, meet at the corner of N + Broadway but please be careful crossing the street.
