Parade Route Shortened!
Thanks to Mother Nature leaving stubborn snow and ice, the St. Patrick’s Day Parade route will shortened. Think 2015 – it will be one straight shot up Broadway – beginning at Broadway Station (aka Broadway Village) and ending at Broadway and Farragut Road.
So there you have it.
Since when has Broadway Station been called Broadway Village???
I lived in Southie for over 50 years & never heard it called that…just curious.
When they remade Cardinal Cushion, the area was renamed Broadway village.
I think she’s just making a joke and referencing an old article. No one calls Broadway Station area Broadway Village.
Did you click the link in the article? It’s a reference to a push by real estate peep to call the area Broadway Village!
CIS with the finger on the pulse per usual! (WHDH spelled Farragut wrong in their report! ????)
Me neither. Far less years, but I have my ear to the street!
Just a joke
I think it’s a joke too; I’m a third generation Southie kid and never heard “Broadway Village”. And, it’s Cardinal Cushing; not Cushion…or is that a joke too?
Anyway it’s great to have a newsletter/ blog so thanks to Maureen and everyone who contributes.
Happy St. P Day,
Kate R
Broadway Village, or more commonly know as BroVille, is very real.
That’s a step in the right direction. Hopefully in the future the parade can either be moved or canceled all together.
Dear Morons, Cardinal Cushing was a South Boston native. He gave the homily at JFK’s inauguration. Don’t disrespect an icon from the neighborhood. Broadway Village is a real estate broker term to help newbies think they still live in the south end. Southie was politically incorrect at the time. You live in the Lower End. Get accustomed to it.
Larry, you will be moved before the parade. South Boston is still one of the most Irish neighborhoods in America. The parade will be going on long after you go back to wherever you came from. I hope that rock is still for sale so you can live under it. South Boston is a diverse, progressive neighborhood thanks to people like Maureen. But we still have our traditions. Respect us and we’ll respect you. Larry, stop watching fake news.
