In the midst of the rush hour commute home on Thursday evening, a man climbed on top of a construction crane at 6 West Broadway.  Crowds gathered and the Boston police were called as the man walked and then dangled from a rope.  Unfortunately, the man fell to his death.  Boston police are investigating the incident.

    Why no tv news coverage?

The news doesn’t cover/report suicides. The only exception is famous people who commit suicude.

The news definitely covers suicides, The rope broke, he may have been a moron or on drugs but the rope broke.

It’s not on the news because the mainstream Boston media NEVER report anything bad happening in Southie. Strange because they never seemed to miss the opportunity when I was a kid.

      Darwinism at its finest.

Just because the guy in question did something that really wasn’t smart, thereby making the commute hellish doesn’t mean that he deserved to fall to his death. The attitude that the guy “got what he deserved” is over the top.

Do you know how many public service officials had to take time away from serving the public to attempt to stop this guy? Over 50. On top of it, he took hours away from hundreds of citizens. I stand by “he got what he deserved”

You’re a waste of resources. You’re talking about a human life(and one of the better ones) as if it has some monetary value or how it inconvienced people when he is now dead. People like you are the ones who should probably be dead because youre the reason the world’s fucked up. Just spreading hate. Anti human bitch ads nobody

On several sites I’ve read that “the Rope broke”. However the story I heard from a T-worker, the rope was attached to a pulley and was not sufficiently tied off to prevent his fall while he attempted a Tarzan like swing.

I heard he grabbed on to a manila line on what is known as a well wheel. It is used to pull up construction products to specific floors. It is a continuous line that runs through a sheave at the top and then back down to the ground. Grabbing one side of the line can result in a free-fall as both ends of the line are not always anchored. He must have thought the line he grabbed was anchored (on other end), but what he did was akin to jumping off the building (even if he had a secure hold on one side of the line; and even if THAT side was anchored or tied off, he free fell because the other side was not anchored).

I heard that he got on a magic carpet and flew off to be never seen again.

People suck with there nasty comments.
That man was someone’s son, nephew, cousin or maybe he was a father! Whether it was tragic accident or not. It was still a loss for all his family and friends!

“He got what he deserved” coming from someone who knew this man, you have no idea how awful that statement is to see. He was a beautiful soul who in no way deserved to die. Pity if someone you loved suffered mentally and put themselves in harms way and ended up dead.

As you all sit here and speculate, make fun of, and discuss this “Man”,,, His name was Chris, He was ONLY 23. He was mentally ill and he never meant to actually kill himself. He has done things like this in the past but never to this extreme. He is an experienced climber who who climbs very high things for a living. As our family and all his many friends mourn the loss of such a beautiful lost soul, I hope you all enjoy the show and make your comments as you go about your lives. WE CAN’T. People are so mean and horrifying on the internet…I can only hope that ppl are as nice to you and your family if anything bad ever happens to them!

I knew Chris through too. He was hands down THE NICEST kid I have ever met. He didn’t deserve to suffer with mental illness, he didn’t deserve to die and he doesn’t deserve these awful comments. I can’t believe people are so awful. And I can’t believe he’s gone…

Well said. This really is a fucked up tradegy. He genuinely was a great kid and didn’t deserve this. The world was unquestionably a better place with him in it. I’m so sorry for your loss. I’m gonna miss him alot

People! Jeeze. First, to those who cared about him, sorry for your loss. I can’t say how I would feel if he were a loved one of mine, had mental illness and/or was on drugs or just made a really terrible terrible decision to do something dumb. I’ve made bad decisions before and look back thinking I got lucky and so haven’t most of us here. No, nothing to this degree but even jumping off quaries growing up could have been a mistake that left your parents without a child so just stop. Someone just lost their child. Since, he didn’t intentionally hurt or harm anyone I care about I have nothing negative to say. It’s just sad overall. Yes, perhaps it took resources (police, fire, end, etc.) but that’s their job (this isn’t the first or last time something like this will happen) and Boston is well equiped to handle multiple emergencies at once so this guy didn’t take away from you. So settle. I was there prior to the fall and saw people with small children watching this play out. I place far more judgment on those who let their kids watch this and the people that are saying horrible things here.

I’m sorry for your loss and I’m sorry your family and this man’s loved ones have been subjected to these inconsiderate people on the internet who clearly have never felt a loss like this. He, and you all deserve better treatment. I’ll keep him in my prayers.

Chris was my friend. He was funny, handsome, kind and caring. He was passionate about his career, family, friends and snakes. He was a beautiful person inside and out and had bad mental health. The last time I talked to him we were in a fight . This was two weeks ago. And I deleted all the pictures I had with him. I regret it so much. You never know what you have until its gone. Prayers go out to his family. He loved you all so much.
