Basking Shark Carcass found in Southie Waters.
What the hell is that? Capt. John Greland fro the BPD began tweeting about the mysterious animal/mammal floating just below the surface near the Black Falcon Cruise Terminal on Tuesday morning.
According the Boston Globe, the Boston Police harbor unit received a call around 8am. The Coast Guard was sent out to investigate. So far, the fish has not been identified but could be anything from a whale to a shark or maybe even a mola mola. Yikes!
We are praying it’s not the #SouthieWhale! More to follow!
UPDATE: The New England Aquarium has identified the fish carcass as a basking shark. The shark is about 24 feet long and 9 feet wide from fin to fin. Yikes! Luckily it only eats fish! Phew!
