Southie Whale
Humpback spotted near Castle Island
We’ve seen our fair share of wild life in Southie – bald eagles, deer, skunks, coyotes, seals, mola mola, Sunday Funday participants on Broadway, so it’s not surprising that Southie has a whale too. According to an article written by Steve Annear in the Boston Globe, a juvenile humpback whale was spotted off of the tip of Castle Island in Boston Harbor on Wednesday morning.
This is the third time in the past three years that a young humpback was seen swimming in the harbor. It is uncommon to see a whale this close at this time of year. But as you know, everyone wants to live in Southie – including the whales!
