Remember SOBO Place? Back in 2016 we reported that a 36-unit resident 5-story building with commercial space on the ground level was approved by the BPDA for 55 West Fifth Street.
Well, according to Universal Hub – the developer wants to increase the units being built from 36 to 50 units in addition to adding a sixth floor. Developer Joe Hassell is hoping to use the new zoning laws along the Dot Ave corridor to his advance which allows for taller buildings in exchange for units for the middle class.
What exactly does “middle class” mean? It’s people who make up to 120% of the area median income. “Affordable” units (80% of area median income) would go from 4 units to 7 in the developers new proposal.
So there you go. You can see the new submitted proposal here!
