Name that building!  You might win $1000!

0.8 min readBy Published On: June 9th, 2016Categories: Living96 Comments on Name that building!  You might win $1000!

The people behind the development at 11 Dorchester Street and Joyce Lebedew Real Estate need your help, Southie!  If the name you submit to the contest is chosen, you win a sweet grand!   Just think of the stuff you can do with $1000: a weekend away, drinks for all your friends, pay a bill, buy some new shoes!  $1000 is awesome!  $1000 is courtesy of Joyce Lebedew Real Estate!

All you need to do is email or post in our comment section, the name you’ve created for 11 Dorchester Street to [email protected] and that’s it!  One submission per person.

Here’s a little background on the development:
The 30-unit residential building will have a new 130 seat restaurant named Republic complete with full bar, a seasonal open-air atrium with a bar and fire pits.

And please whatever you do – don’t submit SOBO Place – it’s already been taken.  Yes, SOBO! #JustSayNotoSobo

I recommend that the parties consult and seek approval from the Salman family to honor Scott Salman. Scott was a great member of our community and well respected Boston Firefighter who passed away to job related cancer . If the family approves of this and it wins the honor I recommend donating the prize money to a charity of their choosing and/or the Boston Firefighters Children Fund.

    Society 30

Reasoning: 30 units, 130 seat restaurant, Republic (the restaurant) is synonymous with the word “Society”

The New England or just New England (as it sits where New England Auto Body did for many many years) The operators helped a lot of us bring our cars back to life after many a bang up over the years-great guys Mike Ritz and Paul Boyle, etc. who would be thankful for the building being named after there business they ran so well for over 40 years!

Great choice, Rich Evans! As the wife of Mike Ritz, there is a certain partiality on my part; however, setting that aside , I think “The New England” is an apt name, and you have my vote! Also, thank you for recognizing the important work they did not only for many satisfied clientele , but for the community, as well, in their sponsoring of the “New England Auto Body” youth hockey team for many, many years! Bev. P.S. Mike’s longtime partner and friend is Joe Keating.

I’m Mike’s sister and agree that some kind of homage to it’s former structure would be nice. Since many crumpled cars were restored at New England Auto, how about some of the following suggestions:
      Impact Place
      Restoration Village
      The Tin Knocker
      The New Englander
      Wheel House
      The Settlement

    “Revolution”

Sticking with Boston’s history in the development of the Republic. You could also then use the name as a marketing pitch…”Experience a Revolution in living” etc etc
