Workouts of the Week: 7 Days of Workouts in the neighborhood
Everyone loves a good summertime sweat and the South Boston area has so many great options that cater to everyone’s tastes and fitness levels!
Monday
To start the week head on over to Turnstyle in the at Ink Block! There are usually 13 classes everyday, including a bootcamp class. These classes are perfect for a quick 45-minute sweat! Although the class is set at an intense level, you are free to go at your own pace. Each class offers a different music artist theme, which is just what you need to push through to the finish line. The parking situation is challenging so be sure to leave extra time before arriving to class!
Tuesday
Break up the day with a lunchtime sweat! Sweatfixx in Southie offers $10 classes at 12pm on Tuesday, Thursdays and Fridays! On Tuesday take a sculpt class. On Thursdays and Fridays it’s row! Get the details here!
Wednesday
Push yourself over the mid-week hump with a class at C2. Early birds can take Megan Kennedy’s Beat Barre Class at 6am. Beatbarre is a fusion of Pilates, ballet, yoga and functional training using multiple props such as balls, bands and small weights, you will lift and tone your butt, define and strengthen your thighs,and tone and sculpt your arms and core.
Thursday
Who doesn’t love a free, quality workout outside? I know I do! Kick it by Eliza is a class offered every Thursday at 5:30pm as part of Seaport Sweats. Classes are an hour long kickboxing-inspired, heart-pumping class that will help tone and strengthen every muscle in your body. So lace up your sneakers, grab a friend and head to the Seaport.
Friday
Finish the stressful work week with Rock & Flow Yoga at Radiant Yoga. On Friday evenings at 6pm, Caitlin teaches an action-packed hour flow set to music that change every week. You can request songs by direct messaging Radiant on twitter or posting a request on their Facebook page. Specialty playlist sequences have included: Rock n Vinyl, David Bowie, Beyonce, Madonna, Drake, Songs you love to sing along to, 80’s rock and more!
Saturday
Everyone is talking about of the new fitness craze OrangeTheoryFitness, so why not give it a try? The first class is free so take the T to Back Bay and give it a shot! Orange Theory incorporates cardio and strength-training with half the class being on the treadmill, and the other half on either the rowing machine or on the floor. So, workout at your own pace, track your progress and get fit this summer!
Sunday
It’s all about balance right? Start your Sunday with a 50 minute yoga class by Beats by 1111 at Cisco Brewers Seaport. Pre-register for a quick 45-minute yoga session outdoors then hop in an Uber. One $20 ticket gives you access to the class and also gives you a complimentary mat, free drink wristband, and early access to the brewery after class!
