Originally known as Armistice Day to honor the living veterans of World War I, Veterans Day has transformed into a holiday celebrating all who have served and are serving their country. Here are some things happening in the neighborhood to celebrate. Check back as this list may be updated!
Plant Flags for Veterans
Mass Fallen Heroes will be planting American flags for Veterans Day on Friday from 9am-11am. If you’d like to volunteer sho up at 85 Northern Ave in the Seaport.
Veterans Day Lunch at Publico
Lt. and New England Patriot Joe Cardona will be at Publico on Friday for Veterans Day and to help raise funds for Fisher House Foundation! Stop by and show your support!
DAV 5K
Lace-up those sneakers and run or walk the DAV 5K at Castle Island on Sunday, November 13th. You can register here!
Free Lunch for Veterans at Tuscan Kitchen
This Veterans Day Tuscan Kitchen, Tuscan Sea Grill & Bar, and Toscana Italian Chop House & Wine Bar will be serving a family-style meal to veterans and a guest from 11am to 4pm. Since 2010, Tuscan Brands has served over fifteen thousand Veterans, and this Veterans Day owner Joe Faro anticipates feeding over four thousand vets and their guests.
Veterans that live in the town/city of each of the Tuscan Brands Restaurants are invited to join other heroic patrons, and a guest for a scratch-made family-style meal. Guests can expect a traditional Italian feast starting with Tuscan Kitchen’s signature Penne Bolognese. For the second course, patrons will enjoy a Roast Pork Tenderloin paired with Yukon gold mashed potatoes and roasted carrots. Lastly, for dessert they’ll enjoy a freshly baked cookie and Italian dark roasted coffee.

Free Lunch for Veterans at The Broadway
All Veterans will eat free on Friday at The Broadway – just show a valid ID and they’ll take care of the rest!
Zoo is Free for Veterans
In honor of Veterans Day, admission to Franklin Park Zoo and Stone Zoo will be free on Friday, November 11, 2022 from 9am-4pm. Spend the day with family, learn about fascinating wildlife, and explore all the Zoos have to offer! Free entrance will be available with proper military identification for veterans and their immediate family members, last admission will be at 3pm.
Comedy for Veterans
Comedy on Draft – a special veterans comedy show at Sam Adams Taproom on Thursday at 8pm. You can get tickets here!
Free Boston Harbor Cruise for Veterans
Enjoy a free Boston Harbor cruise and guided tour of For Warren for veterans and service members on Saturday, November 12th hosted by Boston Harbor Now. Reserve your tickets here!
Veterans Day Memorial Service
Join the Fitzgerald Post for the 71st annual Veterans Day Memorial Service.
9am – assemble at the post
9:30 – parade to St. Brigid
10am – memorial mass
The post is also accepting donations for the Chelsea Soldiers Home.
