Caught in Southie

Last Saturday night, Patriots’ cutie Wes Welker stopped into the L Street Tavern (81 L Street) to have a few beers with a buddy.  Rumor has it, this is not the first time for Welker to step foot into L Street.  We hear he has a good friend who recently moved into the ‘hood and has stopped in before.  When the wide receiver entered the bar, it instantly made the birthday of a local gal celebrating her 30th birthday a little bit sweeter.  We also hear that Ian Rapoport – Boston Herald Patriots’ reporter was in the tavern just moments before with a fellow sports reporter from Kansas City having a beer and just missed number 83.  Wes Welker was said to be very pleasant and congenial.  Good to know.

And in other celebrity sightings in Southie, the award winning chef Lydia Shire was enjoying a cocktail at the Quencher Tavern (170 I Street).  The outgoing red head who revolutionized the Boston food scene was seen sipping her drink and chatting with the patrons.  We heard from “someone in the know” that Ms. Shire was in the Quencher another time prior to this visit with another celebrity chef and Southie girl Barbara Lynch.
