If you survive Black Friday and still have some shopping left in you, then head out to the streets of Southie on Saturday. Saturday, November 25th is national “Small Business Saturday.” This campaign was designed by American Express to generate business to small independent merchants – and we know how important it is to shop locally! So get out and there and shop! And spread the word too! Encourage your friends and family to shop locally! Not only are you getting a jump on your Christmas shopping, you are helping our local economy! Really, it’s a win/win situation. The City of Boston is also offering free metered spots today too!

On December 7th, Maureen and Heather bring you a live version of their hilarious podcast Caught Up at Laugh Boston. They’ll bring you up to speed on the latest Southie news, deep dive into Christmas traditions they love and hate, welcome special guests and maybe even some holiday surprises. It’s the Seaport Winter Market! Bring your cheer to Seaport Common this holiday season for Christmas trees, wreaths, kissing bells, and locally made gifts, all delivered right to your home! The greenery market will be open six days a week with rotating local vendors and holiday entertainment every Saturday and Sunday. The Winter Market is in partnership with EverGreen Delivery and Red’s Best Seafood. Market Hours: November 24 – December 23 – Tuesday – Sunday Weekday Hours: 12 – 7 pm – Weekend Hours: 9 am – 6 pm.

Play:
All Girls & Women Flag Football Tourney “Kickoff 4 Kids” at the Southie Pop Warner field starting at High Noon and running throughout the day. There’ll be lots of great match ups with moms playing daughters and old friends playing new friends and lots more! All proceeds will go to SB Non-Profits for Christmas gifts for needy families. Plus, there’s great DriFit shirts to purchase to help the cause!
Head to Woody’s L Street Tavern after the games to rehydrate and celebrate with the awesome musical talents of Kenny Morrell!

Register:
Put on your Santa hat, lace up those sneakers and get ready to run for a great local school – South Boston Catholic Academy. On Saturday, December 2nd at 10am join your friends and neighbors and run a 5K race along the South Boston beaches. Start and finish is at South Boston Catholic Academy at 866 East Broadway. Stick around for a post-race party with prizes, raffles, food and fun! There is also fun for the kids on deck too with two youth races. At 9:15 – 100 Meter Dash for kids (9 and under) and at 9:30 a 1/2 mile run (14 and under). If you preregister by November 30th, it’s $30. Post-registration is $35.
