Celebrate:
Still looking for a spot to ring in 2016 in Southie? New Year’s Eve is the biggest party night of the year. But why not skip the frenzy downtown, the struggle for a cab and the fight for a drink and stay local? Here are some of our favorite picks for a very Southie New Year’s Eve.  https://caughtinsouthie.com/feature/pop-fizz-clink-southie-new-year

Recover:
Celebrated the new year a little too much?  Coppersmith has got what you need!  In addition to a two-person prix fixe menu, this Southie hot spot will be serving lunch items from 11am-5pm and dinner beginning at 5pm. Hangover Helper food truck items will also be served from 11am to close and will include Confit Chicken Wings, Sliders, Meatloaf Meatballs, Veggie Sliders, and Tacos.  Oh, yeah and don’t forget the hair of the dog that bit you – the bar will be open to take the edge off.  After all it is Friday!

Plunge:
Take the plunge! We hear the best way to cure a hangover is to dive into the freezing cold ocean for a swim!  While there is no scientific research to back that up, it’s a great way to help out the Scleroderma Foundation!  What better way to start off 2016 then by doing something for a great cause! Meet Kevin Conroy and friends at L Street Tavern on Friday, January 1st and then be escorted down L Street by 103rd Postal Fire Column Pipes and Drums at 7:45am.  At 8:00am at the L Street Bathhouse, strip down and take an ice-cold plunge!  Warm up back at L Street Tavern for raffles, prizes and a really good time!  Even if you are too chicken to jump into the freezing cold ocean, come by to support the participants brave enough to take the plunge and to support the Scleroderma Foundation!  You can make a donation either by check or by visiting www.scleroderma.org/taketheplunge

Eat:
Loco Taqueria & Oyster Bar is celebrating 2016 with their New Year’s Walk of Awesome Brunch with Conscious Reggae from 11am-2pm and XXL bottles of bubbles.  Brunch begins at 10am.  For a full menu of deliciousness visit: www.locosouthboston.com
