Pulitzer prize winning playwright David Lindsay-Abaire grew up in Southie and his hometown has had a great influence on his work.  His play, Good People is about a down-on-her-luck single Southie mom Margie Walsh and tells the story of fate and the choices we make.  South Boston is the backdrop and the subject of class and poverty is front and center in this character driven play about normal people trying to live the best life they can.  Well, Lindsay-Abaire has a new play about to debut at the Huntington Theatre – Ripcord.  “When cantankerous Abby is forced to share her room in assisted living with endlessly chipper Marilyn, the two women make a seemingly harmless bet that quickly escalates into a dangerous and hilarious game of one-upmanship, revealing hidden truths that neither wants exposed.”  According to Lindsay-Abaire, “Ripcord is my mother’s favorite, so I’m happy that she’ll only have to travel a few T stops to see it.”  Southie boys love their mamas!  Ripcord plays May 26 – June 25 at the Calderwood Pavilion at the BCA, 527 Tremont St. in Boston.
