Skip breakfast in bed and treat mom to brunch in Southie! We’ve got the scoop on who’s serving up something special for your mama!

Drink:
It’s Mother’s Day Weekend and why not give the that keeps on giving -especially for busy moms – the gift of wine!  This year we’ve created a guide with a celebrity mom spin with the help of our friends at Social Wines! You may identify with some or all of these moms – we know we do – just a teeny bit!

Shop:
Moms the word!  Mother’s Day is this Sunday! Mother’s Make sure to remember your mom with a gift.  Southie shops have some suggestions.  Make sure to shop local!  Check out our Instagram for some of our favorite picks!

Watch:
And they’re off!  It’s the 142nd running of the Kentucky Derby at Churchill Downs.  20 horses will compete on one lucky winner will receive a $2 million purse! The most exciting two minutes in sports begins at 6:24pm! A special fundraiser will be held  on Saturday May 7th at Amrheins Restaurant 4:30pm for Mark Delamere!  We hear it will be THE fundraiser of the season.  Wear your big hats and drink up the Mint Juleps!  For more information visit here.

Write:
The South  Boston Public Library is hosting a fun event on Saturday, May 7th at 1pm.  Brett Johnson, a Boston comic, will run a  free writing workshop.  If you have written funny essays, or would like to try your hand at stand-up comedy, you’re invited  to bring your material and try it out.   Who knows?  You might be the next Jerry Seinfeld or Tina Fey.

Run:
Oorah!  Lace up those sneakers and run for the US Marine Corps Scholarship Foundation!   On Saturday, May 7th and  join  over 1,500 runners and participate in the 15th Annual Boston Marine Corps Honor Run.  This fast paced 5K takes place along Southie’s Day Blvd beginning at Carson Beach at 9am.  The Marine Corps Scholarship Foundation is the Nation’s oldest and largest provider of need-based scholarships to military children, with particular attention given to those whose parent has been killed or wounded in combat, or who have demonstrated financial need.  So register today by visiting: http://www.mchonorrun.com/  Fee is $15 for Active Duty Military, ROTC, Retired Military and JROTC; $35 for pre-registration; and $45 for race day registration.  If you can’t participate – head out and cheer for those who are!
