Eat/Drink:
Nothing but blues and sun in this weekend’s forecast!  We say hit the waterfront! Innovation District be damned.  To us, it is and will always be the Southie Waterfront.  So with summer weather upon us, here is a quick guide of places to eat and drink on South Boston’s waterfront.

Shop:
It’s officially sunglasses season so why not treat you to a new pair!  Wink Eyewear has a new selection of designer brands including Prada, Gucci, Jimmy Choo, Ted Baker, Kate spade, Ray Ban and Maui Jim!  Stop by and pick up a pair or two!

Run:
Massachusetts Fallen Heroes, an organization honoring the fallen, assisting the families of the fallen and empowering veterans, kicks off Patriot Week with its first annual 5k Run and Ruck, this Saturday at 9:00 am along Day Blvd.  Number pick-up and on-site registration: 7:00 am- 8:30 am, Pre-race warm-up: 8:30am and race begins at 9:00 am  For more information, please visit  www.mfhpatriotweek.org.

Ride:
Go for a bike ride! Whether you’re a hardcore bike rider or just a casual cruiser, Southie Cycles – a new riding club –  might just be for you!   Started by Southie residents and bike enthusiasts Steve and Laura Bowden,  Southie Cycles is a free riding club for bicycle riders of all levels. The idea is to ride with the group or lead a ride yourself.  Go to www.southiecycles.com to check out the next ride, or add a ride to the schedule yourself!  Sounds like fun and healthy way to meet your Southie neighbors!

Laugh:
Get your babysitter and get ready for an night of laughs, dancing and fun at St. Peter Academy Comedy Night!  Tickets are $25 This event takes place on Saturday, May 21st at 7pm at the Lithuanian Club – 368 West Broadway!

Family Fun:
The Lawn on D kicks off the 2016 Summer Season with some good old fashioned family fun!  The Children’s Festival will take place on Saturday, May 21st from 12pm- Free activities and entertainment for the whole family! Interactive exhibits from: New England Aquarium’s Tidepool, Zoo New England’s Animal Encounters, Museum of Fine Art’s Art Making Activities, Knucklebones’ Innovative Playspace.  Enchanting performances by: Read Boston Storytellers, Puppet Showcase Theater, Voices Boston and Steel Rhythm.  Plus, Boston Frosty will be serving complimentary soft-serve ice cream!

Warning:
Southie Traffic Alert: May 22nd – Harpoon 5-Miler!  The 15th Annual Harpoon 5-Miler to benefit The Angel Fund for ALS research is on Sunday May 22nd at 10:00am. The race starts at the Harpoon Brewery in the Seaport district and runs over the Summer Street Bridge to East 1st Street, to Farragut to East Broadway to Day Blvd, to Shore Road and back via East 1st Street.  Please be aware that traffic delays are expected from 10:00am-11:30am in this area of of the neighborhood!  The race is sold out but if you’d like to make a donation, please visit here! 

Support:
Buy art!  In support of South Boston Open Studios and Charitable Art Auction, 555 Gallery will be hosting the opening event and a weekend long auction of more than 30 pieces of art by area artists, with a portion of the proceeds to benefit the deserving local education enrichment program at The Paraclete Center in South Boston.  This event takes place on Friday, May 20th at 7pm.  Stop by and check out the art,  meet the artists, find out more about The Paraclete, and enjoy some refreshments from local restaurants!
